Mission Statement
The Building Officials Association of Texas is dedicated to enhancing the professionalism of its members, advancing the standards of the building industry, and leading in the resolution of public policy issues.
As a Building Official, my fundamental duties are the protection of life, health and property;

recognizing the public's trust bestowed upon individuals engaged in the administration and enforcement of building regulatory codes;

developing, maintaining and promoting the adoption of model codes and other related supplements thereto;

to promote uniformity in building regulations through these codes and to encourage uniformity in application and enforcement of such codes;

to study, review and debate the principle fundamentals of safety in building construction;

to advise and assist in the administration of building laws and ordinances;

to research, develop and publish educational materials;

to perform such other functions that are deemed relevant to or desirable for the attainment of these objectives;

place the public's welfare above all other interest and recognize that the chief function of government is to serve the best interest of all the people;

demonstrate integrity, honesty and fairness in all transactions and constantly strive for excellence in all matters of ethical conduct;

maintain professional competence in all areas of employment responsibility and encourage the same in associates at all levels;

accept no form of personal favors or gratuity for public services rendered and conscientiously avoid all circumstances that could compromise professional integrity and above all,

to recognize the symbol of my office as a Building Official of public faith and acceptance of public trust to be held so long as to be true ethics of public service, constantly striving to achieve these objectives and ideas, dedicating myself in the presence of God to my chosen profession, Building Code Administration and Enforcement.
